Joining Xinachtli Xochikalli is an invitation to walk with us, to explore what it means to be part of a Kalpulli, and to learn alongside the community. Membership is not a single step, but a journey that unfolds over time through participation, responsibility, and ceremony. It is about walking together in balance, honoring ancestral tradition while also creating space for growth, reflection, and transformation.

Our Kalpulli is rooted in relationship with the land, the ancestors, and one another. Membership offers the opportunity to deepen your practice, contribute to the life of the community, and walk a path shaped by reciprocity, accountability, and care.

Path to Membership

Expectations of Members

Being part of Xinachtli Xochikalli is a commitment to walk in reciprocity with the community. Membership is not about perfection, but about sincerity, respect, and a willingness to grow.

Members are asked to:

  • Participate consistently in gatherings, practices, and ceremonies that sustain the rhythm of Kalpulli life

  • Learn with humility, honoring ancestral knowledge and the lived experiences of fellow members

  • Contribute time, energy, and resources in ways that reflect care and responsibility, recognizing that offerings may look different depending on each person’s circumstances

  • Walk with integrity, helping create a space rooted in respect, accountability, and collective care

Accountability & Care

We recognize that life moves in seasons. If a member is unable to meet expectations for a period of time, open communication with the Tlahtokan is encouraged. Stepping back temporarily is possible, and returning is welcomed when the individual is ready.

If patterns of harm, disrespect, or neglect of responsibilities arise, the Tlahtokan and community will engage in dialogue with the member to seek understanding, offer support, and work toward repair. Our goal is not punishment, but restoring balance and ensuring the Kalpulli remains a space of integrity and care.

Growth in the Kalpulli

Membership in Xinachtli Xochikalli is not static. Walking with the Kalpulli is a lifelong process of learning, reflection, and deepening responsibility. As members participate, they may be called toward specific tracks of knowledge, service, or leadership in response to both personal calling and community need.

Growth may include ceremonial milestones that mark stages of learning and transformation, such as a Naming Ceremony, Ayoyomeh Ceremony, or other rites of passage. Members are encouraged to ask questions, seek guidance, and initiate conversations if they feel called toward a particular path or milestone. The community may also extend invitations when a member’s dedication and gifts become evident.

These milestones honor not only individual growth, but the collective commitment to witness, support, and guide one another in balance.
